Mid-1900's "Folk Art" model of a single mast Wood Sail Boat. Decorative in purpose, Folk Art models were less detailed and somewhat makeshift compared to the fine quality scale boat models. This one of a kind hand-made model is truly "scratch-built" and measures 29" long x 26" tall (add 3" for stand) x 5" beam. It features hollow hull plank-on-frame construction built from the keel up. The materials used were commonly available at most hardware stores during the 1940s. A lot of the wood rigging was hand fabricated or carved and are generally out-of-scale with the hull size. Many of the metal hardware items are hand made from brass rod and copper chain. There have been some repairs (re-glued railing, etc.), but the basic boat model is in its original condition.
