I am offering an original (not a reproduction) mid-1900s US Navy Sextant and Case. Navigational devices of this type were used to determine a ship’s position from the observation of the heavenly bodies. The 6” sextant’s radial arm is signed as follows: “U.S. NAVY. BUREAU OF SHIPS E.T.S SEXTANT” “MARK 2 MOD. O Ⓝ” “28795. 1943” “BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION” “ECLIPSE – PIONEER DIVISION TETERBORO, NEW JERSEY, U.S.A.” “TYPE NO.3052-1-A” This unit has a -5° < 145° scale and polarized sun shades. Included is a 11½”x11”x5½” Dovetail Mahogany Case (top & bottom are veneer) with brass hardware. The manufacture’s tag is still attached to the case front with all the duplicate sextant information plus “CONTRACT NO. NXSX-42867 1944”. The accessories included are a case Key, a 8¼” 10X adjustable Focus Scope, Adjustment Tool, and both Spare Mirrors (wrapped in the original tissues). Both the sextant and case are in good condition considering their advanced, but do show some wear from many years of sea duty. This nautical artifact is a fine example of U.S. Naval maritime history. Additional Nautical Items Available - Please Call Cliff @ 760-736-8101 For More Information.
