The Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI), an organized research unit at UCSD, was established to provide education, training and infrastructure for clinical research in the San Diego area that encompasses four hospital systems, two universities and four biomedical research organizations. The mission of the ACTRI is to create an environment that advances health care through interactions between basic scientists, clinical investigators, community physicians, and patients.
The Project & Program Coordinator will communicate and ensure execution of project tasks across all areas of clinical and translational research. Assist the PMO team with project planning, project charters, statements of work, resource planning, risk analysis, status reports, and lessons learned documentation. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for planning and coordinating yearly program plans. Serve as point of contact for meeting attendees and/or collaborating institutions. Call meetings, produce progress reports and follow-up opportunities for future collaboration by writing capabilities documents and aiding dialogue.
The Project & Program Coordinator will also work with the PMO team to manage and maintain the clinical and translational research website, Compass, to ensure up-to-date information and resources are available in a central location for the research community.
Applies professional concepts to conduct analytical studies or projects of moderate scope and complexity to address a variety of policy, research and procedural issues. Fully analyzes issues and problems, gathers data and information, finds and evaluates alternatives and makes sound recommendations.
+ Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
+ Two (2) or more years of relevant experience.
+ Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
+ Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal, as well as written and verbal communication skills (using grammatically correct written English and accurate typing) to interact with a variety of personalities at all levels of the organization, exercising tact, mature judgment, diplomacy and flexibility to promote positive working relationships and job effectiveness. Skill at negotiating with various personalities and developing internal and external network of contacts.
+ Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
+ Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify problems and develop innovative solutions. Ability to examine and question policies, processes, and procedures in order to gain a stronger understanding of, as well as to offer recommendations for improvements to such items/issues.
+ Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
+ Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Strong time management, organizational and follow-up skills to prioritize and complete tasks and projects within set time lines. Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities. Strong decision-making skills to effectively respond to unexpected events and crises.
+ Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
+ Proven ability to develop, analyze and carry out program and project objectives and work with others in achieving organizational goals. Ability to research, gather and organize information to produce concise reports using various resources.
