Executive Chef / Owner Matt Richman
a san diego native, matthew attended la jolla country day school. upon graduation, matthew spent time at the university of new mexico in albuquerque. in the winter of 1999, matthew started school at the prestigious california culinary academy in san francisco. while at school he was able to work at the highly rated kitchens of the fifth floor, twenty-four at pac bell park and kokkari estiatorio.
after graduating in 2001, matthew moved back to san diego and spent time working at pacifica del mar in del mar, ca. after becoming the position of sous chef, he took advantage of an opportunity to move to miami, fl and work at the acclaimed restaurant ortanique on the mile in coral gables, fl. he also spent time at the nuevo latino restaurant chispa, also in coral gables.
matthew then moved back to san diego and worked as an executive chef at my place bistro in la jolla and illume bistro in little italy.
