Vocalist in Search of a Talented Keyboardist to create dynamic duo!

posted: November 24, 2009, 01:59 PM

Replyclick here

I'm a 28 year old female and I live in Oceanside. I have extensive experience with music and majored in opera performance in college. I also had a jazz trio for a couple years. Somehow along the way music got pushed out of my life and I became a karaoke dive diva. After winning some karaoke competitions and having family, friends and strangers beg me to get back into music, I've decided it's something I need to do, but the only thing holding me back is the lack of a keyboardist or someone to rehearse and gig with.

I would like to start with a duo, my vocals, your keyboard and synth abilities and a repetoire of jazz, blues, ballads, torch songs and sprinkle in some modern alternative women's music and showtunes. I also love electronic music so if you can make some of these traditional standards into remixed/electronic music that would be a dream come true, however not necessary just to get started. Drum looping is a plus but not necessary as is being able to sing back-up vocals.

Goal here is to start playing and singing then put together a demo then get ourselves out there to restaurants, hotels, and other venues. I would prefer to work with a female keyboardist that is 21-40 (top end doesn't matter) and someone who is 30-45 minutes away from Oceanside.

To hear my vocals, the only place I have available at the moment is on my Myspace at www.myspace.com/divaceleste (listen to the karaoke songs Crazy, At Last, Hark The Herald Angels Sing, Superstar. My influences are Karen Carpenter, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Gwen Stefani, Tori Amos, Natalie Merchant, Dorothy Dandridge, Peggy Lee..

Write back to me here or on MySpace and tell me a little about yourself!

I'm endorsed with Eden Amps, Dean Markley, and Moog, have rehearsal space, studio, things ready to go, just need the players to help collaborate. Seeking creative, educated instrumentalists to collaborate and perform with. I am open in terms of musical genre (with some exceptions) as long as it is creative and reasonably intelligent. My background is eclectic and includes somewhat extensive Jazz studies, Blues, Soul, Funk, R&B, Country, Rock etc. All that I ask in those that respond is that you know your instrument and have a practical working knowledge of music theory. (Drummers excepted in the music theory department but still would ask that you have some degree of musical literacy) My philosophy is that you need to know the rules to break the rules or at least know them to be able to justify and communicate what you are doing. Also as age seems to be a concern to many that peruse these listings, I am in my mid 50's, not full of BS nor delusions of grandeur just would like to make some good music with others that know their stuff.
